Carl Anthony Smith, 67, of Topeka, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021.
He was born August 8, 1953, in Germany, the son of Andrew and Lula (Parker) Smith. He graduated from Lind Bloom High School in Chicago, IL in 1971. After graduating high school, he attended Upper Iowa University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1975.
Carl had a passion to coach and mentor young men. He was a football coach for Fort Hays State University, Houston University, Garden City High School and Kansas University and numerous other educational organizations over his life.
Carl was employed by the Let's Help of Topeka as an Educational Specialist helping the unemployed secure employment within the community.
He loved watching sports, listening to Janet Jackson and terribly singing along, eating chicken wings and pistachios, and feeding the squirrels in his yard. Carl was associated with New Beginning Baptist Church in Topeka.
Carl married Coritha A. Smith on August 7, 2017 in Topeka, Kansas. Survivors include his wife, Coritha A. Smith; children, Travis L. Smith and Keisha M. Williams; step son, Kent Williams; and brother, William Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Andrew Smith; sister, Shirley Smith.
