Betty Lou Chinn, a loving mother, devoted friend, and vibrant personality, peacefully departed this world on February 2, 2026, in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 86. Born on October 28, 1939, Betty's journey through life was marked by her steadfast spirit, sharp honesty, and remarkable dedication to both family and career.

Graduating from Jefferson West, Betty's path was one filled with hard work and passion. For 15 years, she poured her heart into selling real estate, where her approachable demeanor and straightforward nature earned her the trust and friendship of numerous clients. Prior to that, she spent another 15 years at Sam's Club, working as a meat cutter and demo person, showcasing her spunky personality and enduring work ethic. Betty’s enthusiasm for her work further extended to Hy-Vee, where she delighted customers with her engaging demos.

Yet, more than her career accomplishments, Betty was cherished for the love and joy she brought to those around her. She was undeniably a people person, captivating hearts with her zest for life and her genuine approach to relationships. Those who had the privilege of knowing Betty will fondly remember her as someone who never hesitated to speak her mind, a quality that made her both refreshingly honest and deeply respected.

Betty's interests were as vibrant as her personality; she enjoyed going to the casino and had a thrill for racing Mustangs in her youth, showcasing a spirited side that spoke to her adventurous heart. Cooking was another passion of hers, and she had a remarkable skill in the kitchen, creating meals that brought everyone together. In her earlier days, the joy of bowling and fishing added a layer of richness to her life experiences.

Betty leaves behind her devoted son, Randall Rath, and her loving daughter, Valorie Dunn, who will forever cherish her memory, as well as Dena Ortiz, Savannah Cain, Sasha Star, Leah Clark, and Jimmy "James" Mull, her beloved grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Her beloved family friend, Bobby Garner, and her cherished dog, Jill, along with her granddog, Little Man, find themselves reflecting on the countless joyous moments they shared with her.

Beneath her resilient exterior, Betty carried the weight of her losses; she was predeceased by her father, Charles Brunk, and her mother, Estella Brunk (McBurny), that forever shaped her character. The passing of her daughter, Tamera Barber, and granddaughter, Stephanie Ortiz, alongside the beloved dogs Teddy and Rudy, left indelible marks on her heart.

As we mourn the loss of Betty Lou Chinn, let us also celebrate the remarkable woman she was—a hard worker, a loving mother, and a persistent spirit who engaged fully with life and those she loved. Her impact will surely resonate in the hearts of all who knew her, inspiring others to embrace life with the same passion and honesty she embodied.
