Bernice Vaughn, 89, of Topeka passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020. She was born February 14, 1931 in Topeka the daughter of Paul Wilson and Ruth Pears Reedy. She grew up in Topeka. She met David Vaughn and they were married on August 30, 1948. Bernice worked at Frito-Lay for over 20 years before retiring. She and David enjoyed camping; Melvern Lake was a favorite spot. Bernice also enjoyed taking ceramic classes, playing board games and cards, working in her flower garden, spring and summer holidays, and her dogs. Bernice and David took several vacations to California and Arizona to see family.
She is survived by her son, Dale Vaughn and his wife Brenda of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Nicki (Dylan) Murphy in San Diego and Jesse Vaughn in Dallas; one great grandson Michael Murphy.
She was preceded in death by her husband David in 2004, her son Daniel in 2008, her sisters Doris and Barbara, and her brothers, Lewis and Ronald.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery. She will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 th at Davidson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society sent in care of Davidson Funeral Home.
