Becky Lynn Babcock, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on May 31, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 80. Born on November 28, 1944, in Springfield, Illinois, Becky was a vibrant spirit whose warmth and laughter could brighten the darkest of days.
Becky's profound commitment to nurturing young minds shone through during her 13 dedicated years working for the 501 school district, where she lovingly served breakfast and lunch to countless children. Her impact extended beyond meals, as she created an environment where each child felt seen, valued, and cared for.
A fiercely independent and often ornery woman, Becky possessed a personality that was as spirited as it was kind. She cherished the time spent with her family, where laughter and love enveloped every gathering. Fond memories were created around the dining table as she engaged in favorite pastimes like playing cards and completing jigsaw puzzles. Her creativity extended to her passion for crocheting, where she lovingly crafted pieces that will now serve as cherished mementos for her loved ones.
A true adventurer at heart, Becky had a fondness for the casino, where she enjoyed the thrill of chance, and her love for bowling brought many joy-filled evenings with family and friends. Nature was another refuge for her; she often found solace in the great outdoors, nurturing her spirit amongst the trees and skies.
Becky is survived by sons, Christopher (Melinda) Byrne, Eric (Haven) Byrne, and Brandon (Irene) Byrne, along with her daughter, Kelly (Brian) Glendinning. Each family member holds a treasured place in her heart and will carry forward the legacy of her love and laughter.
She was a proud grandma Becky to Dalton Byrne, Dillon Byrne, Gaje Byrne, Arianna Torrez, Angelo Torrez, Ashton Ketterman, Karly Byrne, Brody Byrne, Isabella Byrne, Braden Byrne, Jacob Glendinning, Luke Glendinning, Kaleb Glendinning, and Ben Glendinning, whose lives she positively shaped. Becky also leaves behind great-grandchildren Kaelynn Keeling and Kenzo Keeling, who added immeasurable joy to her life.
Becky was preceded in death by her partner, Clifford Lynn Byrne, who was a significant part of her life. She also is mourned by her late father, Walter Thomas Kleppin, and her late mother, Alwilda Mae (Marks) Kleppin.
As we bid farewell to Becky Lynn Babcock, we remember her not only for her independent spirit and warm heart but for the endless love and laughter she bestowed upon her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will forever echo in the memories we created together.
