OBITUARY: Arleta Jane Cook
Arleta Jane Cook, 68, Meriden, died Tues., June 1, 2010, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was born May 21, 1942, at Cedar, the daughter of Murray A. and Eva M. (Wing) Rooney. She had worked for Maximus/PSI for 8 years and for Stauffer Communications for over 10 years. Arleta was married to Virgil L. Cook, on March 5, 1960, at Omaha, NE. Surviving are her husband: Virgil L. Cook, Sr. of the home; a son: Virgil L. Cook, Jr. (Donna) of Meriden; 2 daughters: Victoria L. Stitt (Greg) of Topeka and Valentina L. Stitt (Ben) of Meriden; 2 sisters: JoAnn Neal (Billie) of Mabank, TX and Vonda Moore of Mocksville, NC; 3 brothers: John Rooney (Nancy) of Albine, TX, Brian Tillett III (Debbie) of Smith Center, and Lewis Foster of Smith Center; 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Brianna, Travis, Tyler, Erica (Shane), Jeremy, Adam, Garrett, Brandon, and Chase; and a great-grandson: Robert. Arleta was preceded in death by a sister: Linda Foster. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thurs., June 3, 2010, at Jefferson Assembly of God, 8640 Clark Road, Meriden. Interment in Meriden Cemetery. Arleta will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wed., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
