Bruce Kent Moore

Bruce Kent Moore, age 72, of Topeka, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 at Stormont Vail Hospital. Bruce was born October 12, 1944 in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Roy Carl Moore and Katie B. Matthias. He married Aleica Couch January 1, 1979 in Las Vegas. He was retired from the State of Kansas as a computer programmer. He proudly served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as a second lieutenant. Bruce was very active with the Topeka VA and thoroughly enjoyed all the friends he had there.

He is survived by his wife Aleica; one son, Bruce E. (Dena) Moore of Topeka; three daughters, Michelle (Rick) Noble of Lutz, Florida, Meganne Welchhans of Olathe, and Anna Marcotte of Lenexa; a brother, Larry V. (Janice) Moore of Quincy, Illinois; one sister, Carla (Stan) Regehr of Topeka; and six grandchildren, Jared (Sydni) of Lenexa, Tyler J. Moore of Magnolia, Texas, Morgan (Mark) McGurk of Manhattan, Kansas, Breiana Moore of Topeka, Claira Dufoe of Auburn, and Matthew Welchhans of Olathe.

He was the anchor of our family. His heart was bigger than the lakes he so loved boating on and spending time with his family. He was fun-loving, sweet, sassy and silly. His grandchildren were the pride of his life and they kept him young at heart.

He loved all his children deeply and would do anything for them. He was always supportive and gentle in his love.

His best buddy, Bucky, spent many afternoons helping him take a nap or taking him on a walk around the neighborhood.

The love of his life, Aleica, was the yin to his yang. He loved her more than anything.

We will miss you so much, Dad, Grandpa, “Waffles”. You will forever be in our hearts and in our thoughts. We love you.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017. Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to The Veterans Association and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
