James Clifford Lay Jr.

James C. Lay Jr., age 61, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in Topeka. Jim was born July 10, 1955 in Topeka the son of James C. Lay Sr. and Barbara A. Bennett Lay. He graduated from Highland Park High. He married Cindy L. Dawson October 23, 1982 in Topeka. He worked at Santa Fe Railroad for over 42 years. He recently worked with Key Staffing in Topeka. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carman Local #6887 Union. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Becky Sue Johnson Lay and Robben Annette Lay. He is survived by his parents, James and Barbara Lay of Topeka; his wife Cindy of over 34 years; a daughter, Melissa Lay of Topeka; a brother John (Dawn) Lay of Tampa, FL and a sister, Pam Lay of Topeka.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. He will lie in state Sunday from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. with visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. davidsonfuneral.com.
