Jacqueline J. Flower, 78, of Topeka passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016.
She was born October 24, 1937 at St. Joseph, Missouri the daughter of Nathan and Margaret Manley Cobb. She grew up at St. Joseph and Atchison, attending school most of the way in Atchison.
She moved to Topeka and meet Robert Flower from Blue Rapids, Kansas. They were married on July 22, 1956 at Blue Rapids. She worked with her mother as waitress and cook at the Brown Derby Café in downtown Topeka. After raising her six boys she worked in food service for USD 501 at Quincy Grade School for over 20 years. She attended North Topeka Baptist Church. Jacqueline enjoyed tending the flowers in her yard, and spent countless hours in her garden and canning the fruits of her labor’s. She also enjoyed reading True Detective Books, and any kind of crime show on television, “The First 48”, “Criminal Minds”, “Cops” etc. and the Olympics, ice skating and gymnastics being her favorites. Her family also remembers her fondness for “Wheel of Fortune” but only after supper and the dishes cleaned. After retirement, Jacqueline and Robert enjoyed traveling. The Pacific Northwest being one of their favorite destinations.
She is survived by six sons, Earl and wife Sandra of Ozawkie, Carl, Robert and wife Mona, Paul and wife Shelly, Frank and wife Jodi and Russ and wife Katie all of Topeka; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two more on the way; her brother, Charles Manley of Olympia, Washington; and sister, Georgia Parks of Coos Bay, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Beverly Smalley of Wichita; and two grandchildren, Jennifer in 1980 and Matthew in 2004.
Jacqueline will forever be remembered by her loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm on
Monday, October 24th at Davidson Funeral Home, where funeral the service will follow, beginning at 1:00 pm.
