Horace “Spence” Stewart, 80, of Prattville, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Mr. Stewart served in the United States Air Force for 35 years and worked 26 more years as a civilian for the Air Force at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.
Mr. Stewart belonged to Air Force 1 Lodge #889 F.&A.M. at Maxwell Air Force Base, York Rite Council #3 in Montgomery, Alcazar Shrine Temple in Montgomery, Alabama, 33rd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite at Montgomery, Red Cross of Constantine and was Treasurer Emeritus of the Grand Lodge of Alabama. Spence attended church at the Maxwell Air Force Base Chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Stewart of Prattville; son, Frank Stewart and wife Debi of Topeka; daughter, Carol Ann Stewart of Topeka; three grandchildren, Joshua Stewart, Hope Jones (Jermaine), and Hannah Holloway; six great-grandchildren, Kaleb Stewart, Haley Colgrove, Kelsey Taylor, Laney Holloway, Nevaeh and Isabella Jones; his aunt, Nannie Darby; two god-daughters, Amanda Lowman and Audrey Brensing and a host of friends including Roman Hochalter and Terry Wafford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Carl Stewart
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, Aug 28th at the Indian Hills Church, 7627 SW 17th, Topeka, Kansas 66615. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals in care of Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N Kansas Ave. Topeka, Kansas 66608.
