Mary "Peggy" Pegeen Parsons

July 8, 1958 — November 8, 2015

Mary “Peggy” Parsons, 57, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born July 8, 1958 in Marietta, Georgia one of six children born to Andrew and Mary E. Fetters Totter. She was raised in Georgia and graduated from Clarke Central High School in Athens, Georgia. She moved to Topeka in 1978. She worked for many years at the Payless Shoe Source Distribution Center and later at Sutherlands Hardware Store in north Topeka. She loved to garden, decorate her home, and to cook. Her cooking will greatly be missed by her family and at North Topeka Baptist Church where she volunteered quite often in the kitchen. Mary loved her pets, especially her dogs, Goober, Jordan and Schnitzel. Above all else, she loved her family, spending time, volunteering at their school and cooking for them are just a few examples. She was a great Mom. Mary will be remembered for her strong, tenacious personality, which she used in her long struggle against cancer.
Survivors include her partner, Kendall Epperson of Topeka; children, Meredith Bliss and husband Brian of Topeka; sons, Richard Parsons and Michael Parsons both of Lawrence; grandchildren, Zach and Emma; and her close friends, Ken and Marilyn Epperson.
As per her wishes, Mary willed her body to the University of Kansas Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at North Topeka Baptist Church, 123 NW Gordon, Topeka, KS 66608. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan Koman Breast Cancer Research Foundation in care of Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N Kansas Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66608.
