Carol Ann (Sobkoviak) Brady, 73, of Topeka passed away January 28, 2015 at Midland Hospice House. She was born March 3, 1941 at St. Cloud, Minnesota to Joseph and Irene Schulte Sobkoviak the youngest of four girls.
Carol graduated from St. Mary’s Cathedral High School where she participated in an all-girls drum-and-bugle corp. After graduation, she joined the workforce. Carol married W. Ben Brady, Jr. of Hartford, Kansas. She worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield and retired in 2002 after 28 years.
Carol was a car enthusiast and was the editor of the Topeka Region National Antique Auto Club of America (AACA) Newsletter. She then became President of the Topeka Region AACA and also served as Secretary. She was awarded the AACA National Senior Master Judge title in 2003. Carol was a member of Northland Christian Church. She was an avid Bridge Club member and played with many of the same members for over 45 years. She also bowled for many years on both couples and women’s leagues. Carol enjoyed many outdoor activities as shown by her love of animals. During her many life travels she never met a stranger.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and twin sisters Marilyn Hoffman and Marlene Tholl.
Survivors include her husband, W. Ben Brady, Jr.; her children, Kim Carlson (Tom) of Topeka, Jon Brady (Joanna) of Overbrook; five grandchildren, Zachary Brady, Ryan Glass, Erin Brady, Megan Carlson, and Alex Carlson; and her sister, JoAnn Moshier of Andover, MN.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 pm Monday evening at Northland Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Interment will follow in Half-Day Cemetery at Elmont. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission or to Helping Hands Humane Society.
