Helen Louise Lampe

Helen L. Lampe, 92, of Topeka passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.   She was born April 18, 1921 at West Plains, Missouri, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Renner Stuart. She was raised near West Plains and graduated from high school there. Helen moved to Topeka in 1955. She worked for over 20 years as a secretary in the Seaman School District, at Northern Hills Junior High and later Logan Junior High, retiring in 1984. She later worked part-time for the district as a bus assistant. Helen also worked for Huyett Printing. She is a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Helen’s hobbies included crossword puzzles and shopping with her great-grandchildren.

On June 6, 1942 she was united in marriage to John Lampe.

Survivors include two sons, John Lampe, Jr. (Terri) of Morganton, GA, and James B. Lampe (Janet) of Atchison, KS; her daughter, Sharon Mason (Mark) of Topeka; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Anstine of Springfield, MO.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband John in 2002, her daughter, Susan A. Presley, an infant daughter and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 24 ^th at Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rochester Cemetery. She will lie in state on Sunday from 1-6 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday beginning at 10:00 am until the service hour.
