Carol Lee Singleton, 77, of Topeka passed away on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014 at a Topeka hospital. She was born September 14, 1936 at Marysville, Kansas the daughter of William and Clementine (Starr) Miller. She was raised at Marysville and graduated from high school there in 1954. On June 4, 1958 she married Jim Singleton in Marysville. She worked for over 20 years at Sears and then later at Lens Crafters. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and later Holy Name, now both part of Mater Dei Parrish.
Carol was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed trips to Wendover, Nevada with her adoring husband, and playing bingo. She also enjoyed big band music and dancing at the Moose Lodge-she often recalled with fond memories her and Jim’s 50th anniversary celebration there with family and friends. Carol had a beautiful smile, which she shared often.
She is survived by his husband Jim Singleton of Topeka; three surviving children, Brenda Cox of Parkville, MO and her husband Gary, Mark Singleton of Topeka and Randy Singleton of Henderson, NV and his wife Pamela; her daughter-in-law, Dana Singleton of Topeka; sister, Julia Rogers in Holton; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Thomas Singleton who preceded her in death in 2004.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Wednesday evening at Davidson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
