Helen L. Oelke, age 73, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013. She was born September 7, 1940 in Topeka the daughter of Ivan Browning and Joanne Watson Browning. She graduated from Seaman in 1958. Helen was a former member of the Northland Christian Church and a dedicated current member of the Central Park Christian Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Browning and two sisters, Elizabeth Zeller and Dorothy Marsh. She is survived by four children, Carrie Greening of Topeka, Mark (Diane) Oelke of Topeka, David (Jennifer) Oelke of Fayetteville, NC, Joanne Thurber of Overland Park; four grandchildren, Wade (Kelley) of Omaha, Nicole of Overland Park, Dustin (Clara) of Grantville and Katie (Cameron) of Topeka; 3 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Browning of Virginia and Robert Browning of Topeka and 6 sisters, Kathy Cox of Westmoreland, Caroline Gudenkauf of Tennessee, Margaret Stanley of Lenexa, Martha Kennedy of Topeka, Frances Thomas of Topeka and Janet Gessler of Texas.
Funeral services will be Monday , October 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Central Park Christian Church. She will lie in state Sunday from 1:00- 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Rochester Cemetery.
